Hi I was pleased to read about you introducing craftists and artists to an open session. Do you have to be a member of the gallery to participate in this?
I utilise papers in various ways for creating or covering objects, including beginner decoupage. I sometimes incorporate materials etc into my projects. I have various methods but could concentrate on one for a demo night.

Apart from the talent your galleries represent the obvious reason in.cube8r is so successful is because of the integrity of a concept to “give”. You give artists opportunity to show the world what they do. You give communities opportunity to be creative. You don’t discriminate against talent because of a humble or no C.V. You believe in what you do and you believe in what others do. You support and nurture those who passionately love to make and those who admire, need and buy hand-made one-off and limited editions by individuals with no global branding. You make a fabulous difference to shaping people’s values. Namaste.

Hi Vicki!
Thanks for the write up, I had a blast, it was much fun sharing what I do with everyone. Hopefully next time we wont have any technical difficulties!
If your thinking of taking Vicki up on her offer to be a demonstration artist on her new started nights< I recommend saying a great big yes- get out and meet your fellow in.cube8r'ers!

Shabana, I agree totally about how frustrating it is going to a markers market, and talking to a competitor and having her tell me her products are produced overseas, but they’re her designs. But what is worse, is that her products are priced a LOT higher than mine.
I think its great that she is designing her products and getting them produced elsewhere, but in that case, she should go up against the big boys, go and compete against retail stores who do the same thing. Of course she wont – its an easier playing field for her this way.

After reading through the comments I do definately do make more than 50% of my product, however, I would love to hear feedback, I make leather wrist cuffs/guards, I use jewellry focal points (generally necklace pendants) and hand sew them onto the leather bands. The leather I purchase cow hides from a local merchant and cut them up to size depending on the piece I am making, I cut any straps for buckles and mount/hole any buckles or press studs myself, these items are purchased from local business’s, I like to use a variety as each of my pieces is individual. I hand sew or use a hammer and block for riviting pieces together. I combine sadderly tack/jewellery components to create wrist bands with a modern/old world look. The 4 tools I would use the most are a stanly knife, a hammer, hand hole punch and a needle.

I would like to thank Isy for coming up with this wonderful idea and Vicki for running with it. When I first visited in.cube8r I was ready to give up making glassware as I just didn’t know where to sell it from. Thanks to Vicki and in.cube8r I obtained a lovely order from the Premiers Office which is sending me a new direction for 2012.
My glass may not be running off the shelves but with tweeking and brainstorming with Vicki I am hoping for big things (or even medium size things) in the coming year.
Wishing Isy and Vicki a well deserved rest of the holidays and a healthy 2012.
