tell us about your background

I have a fashion degree and 7 years experience in pattern making and woman suit tailoring. Fashion was always my passion. From early childhood I was exposed to different cultures, that reflect now in my designs.
I was born in Soviet Union, grew up in Estonia, traveled through USA and finally settled down in beautiful and sunny Sydney!

tell us about what you create

I make handmade maternity clothing from natural fabrics, Smart designs which does not compromise on comfort, craftsmanship and sustainable way of making clothes are very important to me.

what made you start making your pieces?

While pregnant with my first child I made maternity clothes for myself and got great compliments from all around. When it was time to get back to Work it was very difficult to maintain full time employment whilst looking after my one year old. So I quit my job and started to make ‘made to order’ maternity clothing. In 2010 I started my label EstModa.

what is your inspiration/influences?

I find inspiration in beautiful pieces of furniture, architectural buildings and of course nature

what materials do you use?

I use Natural fabrics like cotton, silk, wool and linen which will let your body breathe, as you know pregnant women usually feel warmer and sweat more, due to increased blood flowing through their body.

tell us about your creative process?

I start by choosing Colour pallette which goes with my inspiration and I sketch my collection. Then I make patterns manually for every piece in my collection and grade them in 4 sizes. Finally I cut fabric and sew details together. Sounds simple, but there a lot of hard work that goes into creating the collection which I enjoy every bit of it.

why did you choose in.cube8r?

in.cube8r is a beautiful store full of unique and well crafted items. Its location in the fashion district on North Sydney has an added advantage.

anything else you would like to add?

I am proud to be part of in.cube8r.

where else can we find you?

Independent with a sustainable focus, Melbourne fashion label Green Eyed Monster is celebrating its first year of creating beautiful clothing for women who care about the environment.

Designer Anne Ryan’s simple, silhouette designs printed on super soft 100% certified organic cotton fabrics using eco friendly dyes have attracted the eye and support of boutiques keen to stock Australian independent designers.

Her current range of whimsical bird designs are made using predominantly Australian made certified organic cotton, accredited Oeko Tex 100 Eco dyes for colour fastness and printed using water based inks.

Anne said, “Encouraging people to think about the cotton before they buy is one way we can initiate a change. Current cotton mass production practices use astonishing amounts of unnecessary harmful bleaches and chemicals at the growing, processing and manufacturing stages.

in.cube8r currently carries 60 of these fabulous t’s :: come in and see!!
