Amelia is a Melbourne based artist, writer and curator. Her work is inspired by women’s bodies, chronic illness and our relationship with the world around us, natural and man made.
She typically works with acrylic and gouache, harnessing art’s storytelling possibilities to reflect on everyday aspects of life. She references elements of illustration seeking to bridge the historical divide between ‘art’ and ‘craft’ and celebrate mediums previously degraded as ‘women’s art’ or as merely decorative.
She loves all things art and history, having completed studies in art history and curatorship, is interested in the role of art in exploring feminism and socio-political themes and believes in the importance of an inclusive arts industry.
