Christine Amanda is a part time milliner and costumier, who started her label Celestial Closet in late 2016. She creates majestic millinery and accessories with an edge, specialising in unique fantasy and theatrical inspired headpieces.
Celestial Closet will take you on an enchanting journey to distant realms and far away places in time and space, creating beautiful headpieces and accessories inspired by time travel, mythology and nature. Discover heavenly pieces to complement your dramatic, fantasy, alternative and gothic lolita fashions.
Owner and designer Christine Amanda has been costume-making for over ten years and is predominantly self-taught. She started with an interest in period costuming, along with making her own clothing and costumes for events and fancy dress parties. She was soon introduced to cosplay, and has built up her skills in pattern drafting, prop-making and clothing customisation across the last eight years, attending many costume events and conventions across Melbourne and interstate in Australia.
More recently, Christine has slowly dived into the world of millinery, initially creating a few headpieces in stiffened guipure lace to wear with her lolita coordinates. She has attended a number of local workshops with Australian milliners, learning to work with both traditional and contemporary millinery materials such as leather, straw, laser cut acrylic, metals and thermoplastics. Working on original designs from the ground up brings her the most joy, and so Celestial Closet was born.
Theatre and performing arts is another big influence, for the last five years, Christine has been on stage and/or assisting with costume design and production for a number of local theatre companies in Melbourne. Recent production credits include: costume design for Oxagen Productions’ “Next To Normal” (August 2018), costume production and millinery for CLOC Musical Theatre’s “Strictly Ballroom” (May 2018) and millinery for NOVA Music Theatre’s “Les Miserables” (Oct 2017).
Celestial Closet was established in 2016, in Melbourne, Australia. Our products are all individually handmade with meticulous attention to detail and quality.
