Hex Arcana is a Melbourne based jeweller who creates daily armour for the modern day witches and wildlings using the age old method of lost wax casting.
Hex Arcana’s love for collecting bones and making jewellery stemmed at around the same time many years ago. What first began as crudely wire wrapped bone jewellery has now grown into something much more refined.
Trading in crumbling bones and rust for precious metal, Hex Arcana now creates dark, amuletic pieces that draw inspiration from various things such as taxidermy, antique skeletal diagrams, medieval weaponry, mourning rituals, pagan folklore, alchemical symbols and occult iconography.
Her main focus is to redefine the boundaries of wearable art as well as challenging preconceived ideas of femininity in order to create striking, and somewhat morbid pieces that offer its wearers feelings of strength and protection.
