Tara of Of That Ilk is a jeweller that produces bespoke pieces for people that are looking for something a little left of centre. Tara’s pieces are playful in nature and are predominately formed and hammer textured therefore each piece is unique.
Tara completed her jewellery training in 2007 (Advanced Diploma in Engineering : Jewellery : NMIT) and has been honing her trade ever since. Her work is playful in nature, with the majority of her precious metal pieces being hammer textured, formed and forged, some even incorporate stitching. Tara enjoys pushing the materials she uses to their limits, her metal work and time in her studio are like being an experimental scientist, seeing where she can take the pieces and how the materials will react. Tara uses numerous materials in her work, from pure gold and fine silver to sterling silver, copper, wood, found objects and more recently has started exploring ceramics. Tara enjoys using fine gold and silver as they have a softer structure and will change shape and patina subtly with wear, making the pieces feel more organic and alive. Tara’s work can be made to order and she enjoys the collaborative process of working with clients to achieve bespoke custom made pieces in the clients chosen metal and stones. The wishbone series can be made in any metal, the range in store will be silver however gold can be made on request.
