There May Be A Bird

May 21 @ 5:00 pm - June 5 @ 5:00 pm

there may be a bird

Join us for THERE MAY BE A BIRD – A 2021 interactive collaborative installation created by one pandemic, an artificial intelligence and an artist.

Join us for drinks with the artist Friday 21 May 2021, 5 – 7pm.
RSVP below to go into the draw to win a $25 in.cube8r gift voucher.

There May Be A Bird delivers meaningful meaninglessness to the forefront of its reason for existing, celebrating absurdity through examination of the self.

Within one installation – projection, storytelling, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and abstract modern art come together to form spontaneous narrative, reflecting a collective state of being in surprising and engaging modes of delivery.

In spanning the gamut of traditional art through to new media, There May Be A Bird invites the audience to embrace the quizzical experience of organic patterns and stories emerging from quasi-unrelated sources, whilst blurring the lines between the real and the artificial.

There May Be A Bird and, there may not be a bird.

You decide.

Artist Bio:

There may be an artist and there may not be an artist.

If there was, the artist may be an animator, projectionist, experiential film maker and  lover of abstraction. There is no way of telling if the artist’s interests lie in creating  playful and absurd artworks with the intent to spark imagination and curiosity through  the pursuit of meaningful meaninglessness.

There may be an artist and there may not be an artist.

(Annie Murray is a producer and programmer for the Melbourne International  Animation Festival, current artist in residency at for Regional Arts Victoria and  recipient of the 2020 Large Creative Grant from Maribyrnong Council. Her short animated films have been screened globally and she routinely works with musicians  to create narrative driven and self-contained animated music clips. Lover of animals,  wine and sticking it to the man)

*Animated self portraits and Augmented Reality experiences created in collaboration with the Animation Students at Elwood College. The artist would like to thank these wonderful young people for their bravery and vulnerability. Special thanks also to John Carlin, George Lekatsas and Nick England at Elwood College for their support alongside Priya Namara of Regional Arts Victoria and finally Paul Fletcher for teaching the artist how to be a big animation nerd.
