in.cube8r gallery presents: COLLAGE

In a world that increasingly feels like it is being stuck together with paste, we need some sweet relief! For this show, we’ve sourced artists who work in the medium of collage, and asked them to create works in whatever theme they desire.

This show features works from

Danielle Macri
Michelle Durán
Patricia Denis
Caroline O’Brien
Maudie Osborne

Show opens 6pm Thursday 29 November 2018 and concludes on 12 December 2018.

Works

Danielle Macri

Danielle is a Melbourne based Mixed Media Artist who is constantly changing the direction of her practice. She loves to use a large variety of medias and materials within her work to challenge the perception of her audience.

I consider painting a metaphor for life and the exploration of such medias to correspond with the nature of our emotional responses. Imprinting the canvas with my emotions, experiences and physical movement whilst interrogating various paint viscosities and their boundaries.

Collage resonates with me most because I constantly change the process of which I work. Materiality being a dominant influence within the body of work I create and my exploration of texture. Playing with layers and textures to create a sense of curiosity to the viewer as well as the urge to touch. Using collage as a way for me to connect to my audience and allow them a glimpse into my mind, it’s a desire with a language barrier. A little teaser with no translation.

Michelle Durán

Michelle is a girl from Colombia living in Australia. She’s a publicist, entrepreneur and designer who is currently discovering magic in botanical art through the creation of a fabulous collection of pressed flowers and leaves, all delicately picked, dried flat and framed. She’s a lifestyle enthusiast who has a keen sense on all things beautiful.

These real flowers are handpicked and pressed completely naturally, some of them are manipulated with gold paint, glitter and other elements.

Please note that natural botanical pieces can be decolorated or some of these plants may have uneven or little nicks in the edges.

Patricia Denis

Patricia Denis is a Melbourne based artist. Science, natural history, technology and the environment inspire and inform much of Patricia’s artwork. Her mixed media sculptures often start with found objects of both natural and manufactured origin. Patricia’s work showcases her eye for detail and skill on an incredibly small scale, including life sized works of small animals. Using reclaimed and recycled materials, Patricia’s work culminates predominantly in sculpture, collage and drawing.

Collage using antique, vintage and reclaimed paper is integral to my artistic practice. My style ranges from gently quirky to slightly disturbing and surreal. For this show I went with both.
