A happy place I retreat to, when in need of self-care: Heide Museum of Modern Art. A moment which enables me to pause and admire, the bittersweet coincidences of life: sunset. A pastime which continues to bring me pleasure and joy: stealing the neighbour’s flowers

Mixed media relief print on paper
57cm x 47cm

This piece depicts my old and everlasting love of custard tarts and my “new-found” love of coffee. Plus my artistic love of relief printing.

I found this piece a dream to create, trialling different layouts and different papers was a lot of fun.

ID092 Suga Baby                                                      $180
Colour pencil on 300GSM paper

This piece came about from my love/hate relationship with SUGAR! Sugar is like the bad boy that your mum tells you to stay away from, yet you can’t help yourself and you keep going back for more. SUGAR is my one true love and I’m not going to deny it anymore! Maybe one day we will break up, but for now I’ll try to only allow him in my life in moderation…

Eliza Stribling

@elizastribling / elizastribling.com

ID093 Me                                                      $40
Digital collage
18cm x 13cm

True love is all consuming. It takes you over and makes you forget about anything else. Often, it might even make you forget yourself. Through digital manipulation, the all-consuming nature of true love is explored in this series, Eyes Only For You. By removing some aspects of images, the series highlights how we tend to forget aspects of our lives when we are in ‘true love’. Things just seem unimportant when you have that special person by your side.

ID094 You                                                     $40
Digital collage
18cm x 13cm

Renee

@renrayray

I am a Melbourne-based artist, who’s been captivated by visual arts since studying painting in the late ’90s. Since then I’ve shown my work in Melbourne and Japan (and daily via Instagram). My work is inspired by my everyday thoughts and experiences which are translated to canvas in a whimsical, reflective and playful style. My interests in activism, philosophy and science are also often expressed in my work. In creating these pieces, I chose to focus on the awe of life when interpreting the ‘true love’ theme.

I find inspiration in good yarns and small things in the day-to-day, living by “Stories & Memories”. I love faces and bodies! My portraits and figurative work take the shape of paintings, illustrations, prints, fan art and commissions. I am also an advocate for women and an ambassador for preventative breast and ovarian cancer charity, Pink Hope.

Bougainvillea is an ornamental plant which loves light and warmth. A flowering machine, it blooms in a fiery explosion of colour and is hardy, tough and versatile. A closer look reveals that its heart-shaped leaves are paper thin and its scrambling branches are full of thorns. Near Wild Blooms explore strength, vulnerability and true self-love, and reflect upon Briar’s past, present and future.

July Duverneuil

@julyduverneuil

July grew up in the French Alps from an artist mother. Curious child, teenager and adult she’s interested in various art forms and techniques such as photography, painting, hand lettering… She researches and uses any medium or technique that allows her to achieve the visuals she has in mind. Her work is very much inspired by everyday scenes and, in her photography collection in particular, she enjoys playing with layers, textures and perception

Skye O’Shea

@skyeoshea / skyeoshea.net/

There is a subtle but relentless quest for beauty that O’Shea consistently delivers in her work. Primarily inspired by her need to empathise with her subjects, O’Shea brings that moment of connection to the canvas to reveal what she has witnessed, the beauty of intimacy. Throughout her work O’Shea redefines beauty as a look, a posture or a moment of confidence or peacefulness. Seeking this knowledge of the subject, she commands her works to reveal an expression that infers its rightness of being.

ID104  Bambi                        $160

Have you ever had someone love you up so much that every worry in the world literally falls away? Until I met Bambi I hadn’t (either?) But now, here she is and all my worries are just dissolved into her purrs.
