“Aurora” upcycled vintage necklace by My Vintage Obsession

You will feel so feminine wearing this upcycled vintage necklace.

I created it from an orphaned clip-back earring set with Aurora Borealis coated rhinestones. This coating invented in the early 1950s reflects light so that we see the colours of the rainbow. I added some soft lilac beads from old warehouse stock to match the earring and finished it with repurposed white beads that gently reflect light in those same colours.

This necklace is:

  • ethically and sustainably made
  • one of a kind
  • made with repurposed vintage beads and an orphaned earring made circa 1960s
  • 44 cm in length (refer to my necklace guide for more information)
  • finished with a hook clasp and small extender chain of 2 cm

Handmade in my Melbourne workshop, this necklace contains vintage repurposed materials which show signs of their age in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
