She is one of our #Prahran Cubers and currently also has work in the STRUCTURE exhibition which was rudely interupted by #covid19 but is now available to view on the website!⁠

I've been fascinated by Zsofi's work since I met her, as I have a soft spot for weaving and love that she works alot with coloured wire! I asked her a few questions which are shared below. ⁠
⁠
❔ What do you love about weaving?⁠
⁠
🎙️ I was 19 when I started weaving and it was love for the first touch. There is something about the slow and repetitive motion, the warp and weft connecting into a tactile structure and the colours and textures blending into patterns that makes weaving special.⁠
⁠
❔ I've noticed your work at in.cube8r often uses wire which is quite unique, what drew you to that material?⁠
⁠
🎙️ During art school where I studied textile design, I spent a term in Helsinki, at the Finnish Art and Design Academy. There I was introduced to alternative weaving materials inc copper and steel wire. From that time fine wire has became the most constituent material I use. It allows me to shape the fabric I weave into sculptural objects. I also love it because it catches the light and shines! ⁠

❔ How long have you been doing this kind of work?⁠
⁠
🎙️ My practice goes back to 12 years all up. (there was a 7 year gap in the middle when I didn't do any art)⁠
⁠
❔ Anything interesting in the works?⁠
⁠
🎙️ I'm currently working on an exciting social project called "Casting Stories" - it is going to be a woven book!⁠
⁠

As you may know, we launched our online store on Sunday just a few hours before the big announcement ... what timing!⁠And stage 4 = this little shop won’t be opening it’s doors to the public for at least the next 6 weeks

What you may not know, is how in.cube8r works.⁠⠀

We charge our cubers a daily membership fee for the days we open our store. And we pay them 100% of their sales. It's awesome and under normal circumstances it works really well for everyone involved!⁠⠀

So... Stage 4. No Retail. That means no days. That means not much in the way of revenue for this little biz.⁠
