The inspiration behind this pattern comes from the Aztec illustrations. I wanted to create something resembling their geometric patterns, with a floral touch. The petals are elongated and the colours follow a circular pattern.
They make me think of a sunny day in an exotic destination and they add a touch of colour without being intrusive.
This pair of earrings is made with the embroidery technique. I first create a slab of polymer clay, cut all the little pieces that are then going to create the pattern and then cut into the shape I want, trying to include as much of the design as possible. I then refine each piece to include extra foliage or details.
I like matching the main component with a gemstone or bead that has the same colour palette and/or meaning to create something truly unique.
The hook and the wire component are all Sterling Silver and the lightweight of polymer clay make them wearable all day long without even noticing.
