“Moon Flower” upcycled vintage necklace by My Vintage Obsession
In stockCuber: My Vintage Obsession (Fitzroy)
I was inspired to create this upcycled vintage statement necklace by an orphaned vintage clip-back earring made from Mother of Pearl. Mother of Pearl has a soft glow that reminds me of the moon and the earring was carved into a stylised flower.
I combined the earring with vintage components including channel-set rhinestones to represent the stars, some brass stampings from old warehouse stock, and Mother of pearl rice shaped beads which I repurposed from a vintage necklace. I’ve completed this necklace with repurposed chain.
Mother of Pearl is said to embody the gentle healing of the sea and also to bring prosperity to the wearer.
This necklace is:
- ethically and sustainably made
- one of a kind
- made with repurposed costume jewellery from the 1960s- 80s
- 46 cm along the neck edge (refer to my necklace guide for more information)
- Finished with a s-shaped hook clasp
Handmade in my Melbourne workshop, this necklace contains vintage repurposed materials which show signs of their age in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
