I created the Squiggle series during a difficult time post-surgery. I wanted to surround myself with playfulness and colour, so I sat in bed and drew the happiest squiggles and shapes in the brightest combinations I could think of. By the time I made 88 pieces I was excited and energized and ready to get moving again! When you look at these squiggles I hope they spark in you the same feelings of joy, hope and excitement.

These artworks are handmade and individual with each one representing a moment in my recovery. They may contain imperfections such as colour bleeding, slight tears in the borders or crooked edges. As in both art and life, these imperfections shouldn’t make them any less beautiful.

Every work comes with a signed certificate of authenticity and some bonus stickers!

All paper pieces are lightly coated with a matte varnish and presented in a glass fronted frame. You can safeguard them by displaying them out of direct sunlight.

By Claire Monique (Fitzroy)

Mornington Peninsula based artist Claire Monique has an eye for colour and a passion for uplifting others through her art. She enjoys working with Procreate, acrylic paint, watercolour, ink and all things bright and sparkly. Her inspirations include Keith Haring, RuPaul’s Drag Race and her home by the beach. Claire studied Art in VCE with a focus on textiles and painting before commencing a BA in Contemporary Art at Deakin University. She deferred this degree to pursue other creative adventures in fashion and Music Theatre, but has come full circle and is once again developing her artistic practice after surviving major surgery for a Brain Tumour in November 2019. She started by making over 400 pom poms, then painted numerous comissions, had the most popular entry in the Mornington Peninsula “#mpbinspiration” competition and launched her debut collected “Neu”, featuring 144 artworks and raising money for St Vincent’s Hospital Neurosurgery Department. Her mission is to inspire feelings of happiness and optimism in everyone who looks at her art.
