“Sea Change” repurposed vintage belt link necklace by My Vintage Obsession
This style of necklace is known as a sautoir; a long necklace suspending a tassel or other ornament. It is full of life and movement and you could imagine a ‘modern’ flapper wearing it in the 1920s!
I created this limited edition necklace from a vintage belt link embellished with a Medieval revival styled filigree. I’ve added a vintage tassel, frosted beads the colour of sea-glass and new chain to complete the story.
This necklace is:
- ethically and sustainably made
- a limited edition piece
- made with a repurposed vintage plastic and metal belt link and vintage tassel circa 1970s
- made with new glass beads and hematite coloured cable chain (lead and nickel free)
- 96 cm in total length around the neck edge (refer to my necklace guide for more information) with the link and tassel measuring 13 cm
Handmade in my Melbourne workshop, this necklace contains vintage repurposed materials which show signs of their age in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
