Handcrafted in Melbourne by local textile artist Judith Scott, this sustainable silk face mask in golden hues is made using upcycled silk ties and cotton shirting.
This face mask is both sustainable and a one-off:
Offcuts from upcycled ties are arranged in an asymmetrical design to enhance the colours and patterns in the silk. The silks and cotton used in this mask have been saved from landfill to create a fabric mask that is washable, reusable, and beautiful. Natural fibres are kind to the face, and reimagining upcycled quality fabric is kind to our planet.
This silk face mask is intricately styled for comfort and protection:
- The mask has 3 layers – upcycled silk ties (outer), polyester interfacing (middle), upcycled fine cotton (inner)
- The style is roomy – side pleats provide a roomy fit – for comfort and for clarity of speech
- The fit is secure – 2 front curved panels help keep the mask in place, elasticised top binding gives a firmer fit across the bridge of the nose and the top of the face, side panels and elastic ear loops secure the side fit, and the mask sits firmly under the chin. This face mask stays in place on the face!
- ‘Maskne’ matters – the inner layer of fine cotton shirting is gentle on the skin and the roomy fit helps the skin breather.
