Unchain my heart, baby, let me be. I created this wall sculpture inspired by the song made famous by Ray Charles in the early 1960s, then Joe Cocker in the 1980s. And, of course, my other inspiration was the little golden heart and all the chains I’ve found on the streets of Melbourne.

My name is Nancy D Lane (NancyDee Sculptures), and I am an artist in residence at River Studios in West Melbourne. Working as a found object assemblage artist and jewellery designer, I create wall sculptures, 3D sculptures and brooches from the metal, wood, tiles and plastic that I gather from the streets of Melbourne. I have had several solo exhibitions in Melbourne and Laos, and my works have appeared in more than 60 group exhibitions in Australia, the US and the UK.
This work comes with a display stand.
